My heart skipped a beat when I found this locker for $6.25. It's perfect for shoe storage - when not in use as my toddler's parking garage. =)
This piece was brand-new, with the hardware still in its original baggies inside the lockers. The handles were rather ho-hum, so I opted to replace them with oil-rubbed bronze pulls.
Paint was only added to the frame of the unit to help it stand out.
It's almost as if this locker was made to fit that awkward space beside my stairs. Happy dance!
Nautical maps are so pretty. I love the subtle colors they add to a room.
By the way, using a spray adhesive makes applying the paper much easier. Then you only need to top coat it with a decoupage medium such as Mod Podge.
Now the only excuse for not putting away shoes is if little brother has already filled your locker with toy cars.
Bessie Mae approves of the new shoe storage solution.
That's right. $1.48. This mail sorter was once used at the neighboring Naval Station.
Here's the same sorter all dolled up with scraps I had left from other paper projects.
I think I might add the names of the months to each pocket. Then this sorter can be used as a perpetual calendar to hold birthday cards.
From shabby to fab in under an hour.
This beautiful ephemera was a crumbling scroll from an old school chalkboard. I married it to a tray that had seen better days. The end result makes me smile.

Maps and ephemera bring so much character to a space. I love merging old papers with well-worn furnishings to create a unique look.
Hey, when you can transform a piece with less time that it takes to paint...I'm in!
